Such a pain now days!
First hemo the engine cover, intake boost tube...
Then inner fender well and serpentine belt...
Throttle body, high pressure fuel pump, and ignition coils....
Both valve covers....can't see the pump yet!
Hemo all these timing cover bolts!!!
Hemo the cover and there it is!!!
Make sure it's at top dead center...
Use these nifty camshaft holding tools so they can't rotate...yeah right...had to use tie straps to keep them in place!
Hemo the primary timing chain and guides then secondary chains....yeah of course only because one of the primary chain guides sits OVER the water pump but BEHIND the secondary chain sprocket!
Finally everything is off!
Check it out! All exposed!
The traitor is exorcised leaving a hollow shell of itself!
Install the new one and of course following correct torque sequence!!!
Of course it has a plastic impeller....but that's so when the bearing goes bad, the impeller gives way against the aluminum block, saving the block! I guess Ford has some good ideas....lol
Clean the timing cover and block mating surface good! Don't want any leaks! Then a nice steady bead of "The Right Stuff"!
Put everything back in reverse order!...as best as you can remember!
Now lick all your wounds...pop a beer..in my case a diet soda...and pat yourself on the back!
Damn parts alone was over $1000+ but at least I saved myself 8 hours labor time!
